The Federal Government of Nigeria has commenced the Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA) scholarships for 2022/2023 and is accepting applications from interested and qualified Nigerians.

What countries will successful BEA Scholarship candidates go to for their scholarships?

Here are the participating countries, according to candidates’ academic level:

For Under Graduate Studies

• Russia, Morocco, Algeria, Serbia, Hungary, Egypt, Tunisia, Macedonia, Japan, Cuba, Romania.

For Post Graduate Studies

• Russia (if your first degree was obtained from a Russian university), Hungary, South Korea, Turkey, Mexico, Japan.

For Under Graduate Studies

Agriculture, Engineering, Geology, Mathematics, Languages, Environmental Sciences, Sports, Law, Social Sciences, Biotechnology, Medicine, Architecture.

For Post Graduate Studies

Requirements for Federal Government BEA Scholarship Awards

Below is the requirement to apply for BEA Scholarship 2021 application form for both undergraduates and postgraduates.

Under Graduate Studies

1. Five (5) distinctions (As & Bs) in five subjects in WASSE/WAEC (May/June) including, English language and Mathematics.
2. Certificate not more than two years old (for non-African countries) and 1year old for African countries.
3. You must be between 18 and 21 years.

Post Graduate Studies:

1. You must possess First Class or Second Class Upper first degree
2. Foreign awarded applicants must have had two years of work experience in Nigeria or post-qualification experience.
3. Candidates must have completed the mandatory NYSC.
4. Applicants must be 35 years for Masters and 40 years for Ph.D.
5. Evidence of release by the employer.

Other Requirements for BEA Scholarship Application Form

• Applicants must be ready to learn a mandatory foreign language for non-English speaking countries for a year.
• Japan applicants must be excellent in Further Mathematics.
• Only WASSCE/WAEC certificate is acceptable for Bachelor’s.
• Candidates for Hungarian Scholarship can apply for two scholarships in order of choice.
• Russian applicants must have their first degree from a Russian university.
• All application processes are online.
• Under Graduate scholarship studies are eight years for other courses and nine years for Medicine.

1. Go to the Federal Ministry of Education website www.education.gov.ng.
2. Click on “Federal Scholarship Board”
3. Fill the application form with accurate information,
4. Print out your Examination Slip.

Documents for Federal Government Scholarship Interview

1. Original copies of academic certificates.
2. Valid international passport data page.
3. Medical report from a government hospital.
4. National Identification Number (NIN).
5. Police Clearance Certificate.
